Esther Ketti Queen Phillips is a German-born Nigerian artist based in London, working under the name Jungel Queen. Her practice draws on Afro-surrealism to explore identity, motherhood, migration, and inherited memory. Growing up in Germany with limited connection to her African heritage, Phillips uses art as a process of cultural reclamation, reconstructing narratives through painting, textile, and digital media. Through a maternal lens, she conducts an ongoing investigation into suppressed narratives and the emotional landscapes of Black womanhood. Her work reflects the quiet transmission of knowledge between generations. Through layered symbolism and dreamlike compositions, she creates contemplative spaces where ancestry and contemporary life intersect, inviting viewers to reflect on belonging, healing, and the evolving meaning of home.
