Rooted in Her, Reaching Through Me

Acrylic on canvas, 80 × 60 cm

This work honours the bond between mother and daughter. The mother leads, guiding with symbols and gestures, while the child receives not only care but also the weight of story and memory. Each mark is a thread of love and direction, pointing the way forward.

As a mother myself, the piece carries deeper meaning: the responsibility of passing on knowledge, stories, and healing, even while searching for the unanswered parts of my own identity. The daughter is both tender and strong, embodying heritage and future. Flowing forms weave together past and present, showing that belonging is not fixed but lived, carried in gestures, values, and the choices we pass on to the next generation.
