Oron proverbs voiced by Joshua Osung, with thanks for his contribution.
(A child plays with his mother as if he will not cry)
Acrylic on canvas, 80 × 60 cm
This painting speaks to the ease with which we take intimacy for granted. A child plays freely with his mother, unaware of the fragility and tears that life may bring. The figures — child, mother, elder — embody the cycle of dependence, love, and inheritance that defines family bonds.
The red ground frames this intimacy as both protective and precarious, suggesting that joy rests on fragile ground. The proverb becomes a reminder to cherish closeness, recognising its value before it is tested by loss.
