Founding Father (Stand for Us All)
Acrylic on canvas, 80 × 60 cm
This work reimagines the figure of the father as not just a man, but a movement. Inspired by histories of protest and resistance, the central figure stands tall, carrying others when they cannot walk alone. Red threads weave between the figures, binding them in pain, protest, and possibility — but also exposing the invisible chains that still restrict Black lives. Every mark becomes a tension between bondage and freedom, silence and resistance.
The painting honours those who challenged the limits placed on them, who fought not only for themselves but for generations to come. It is a reminder that freedom is never simply granted — it is lifted, carried, and passed on together.
